چکیده

Over the years, the different scientific societies have established a series of recommendations on antifungal prophylaxis based on prospective studies performed with different drugs1-6. Table 1 summarises these recommendations for the three situations in which fungal infection is most frequent: acute leukaemias, myelodysplastic syndromes and autologous and allogenic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. As can be seen, each one of them includes most of the drugs currently marketed.

Preventing invasive fungal disease in patients with haematological malignancies and the recipients of haematopoietic stem cell transplantation: practical aspects.

Invasive fungal disease (IFD), predominantly aspergillosis, is associated with significant morbidity and mortality in immunocompromised patients, especially those with haematological malignancies and recipients of allogeneic haematopoietic stem cell transplantation. There has been a great deal of scientific debate as to the effectiveness of antifungal prophylaxis in preventing infection in diff...

Primary antifungal prophylaxis in adult hematopoietic stem cell transplant recipients: current therapeutic concepts.

In recipients of hematopoietic stem cell transplants (HSCTs), the mortality associated with invasive fungal infections (IFIs) remains high, despite the introduction of broad-spectrum antifungal agents over the past 2 decades. Preventing exposure to fungal pathogens in this population is impossible; therefore, clinicians have focused on prophylactic use of antifungal agents to prevent IFIs in hi...
